Leiden International Centre organised this one-day programme to support internationals in learning and practicing the Dutch language through engaging, accessible activities, with the broader goal of fostering integration and strengthening local community ties. The programme offers a variety of fun language-focused events taking place throughout the day – including workshops, games, and informal conversation sessions – designed for different Dutch levels. Participants can choose the activities that suit their needs and availability, making it easy to join in at any point during the day. In addition to the main event, two additional initiatives will bring language practice into everyday settings:
- Praat Nederlands at the Shop: Local businesses in the city centre will display
welcoming signage and encourage basic Dutch interaction with international
customers. - Praat Nederlands at Work: A digital resource package will be made available to
employers of international talent, offering useful phrases, conversation starters, and guidelines for communicating effectively with language learners. The initiative will be introduced by a dedicated workshop for employers and HR professionals in September.
